Writing Is Like Cake Decorating

As a cake decorator, you might have a sketch of how you want the cake to look when it’s finished.

Regardless, until you’re finished, it can look like a hot mess or even end up a complete flop no matter what.

The same is true for every story written. The words are like frosting. Sometimes we spread our words on thick to get our points across.

Sometimes our words offer a sweet story, and others can be bitter, but hoping to inspire. Anyways, we never quite know how they’ll taste or look until the end.

A plan

I used to be a cake decorator and I always loved the cakes that challenged me the most. When I would start decorating, I usually had a plan.

Even so, during a particular interview process to become a cake decorator in this cute little shop in my hometown, even a plan, and a sketch couldn’t help me.
